The Treaty

Commemorating the Anglo Irish Treaty of 1921

The Treaty

A century of musingsĀ
condemnation, consternationĀ
through the annals blood flows
as mighty as the Thames

Heavy lays history's hand
upon whom the dye is set
for dreams that yield before a need
haul heroes towards its murky depths

Patriots much maligned but brave
as towering mandates cast your doom
perfidious but shrewd your foe
the trap was set as Dev well knew

Much now differs on this isle
it's contrasts carved from darker days
a century falls, the wheels still turn
for in the shadows much remains.

Being Me

Well written. Some fantastic lines in thisĀ

through the annals blood flows

as mighty as the Thames

And

Heavy lays history's hand

upon whom the dye is set

And

a century falls, the wheels still turn

for in the shadows much remains.

I love this poem. Your work is always pretty much brilliant x
