Poem -

The Tree That Had Two Meanings

That thick brown rope around your neck,
you jumped right off and it went crack.
The gap between your feet and ground,
The branch it broke and you fell down.

They searched for days,
but all they found
was grass and gravel all around.

Then one sunny day
5 boys went up,
to play on the tree, they loved so much.

But when they got there, all they found
was your lifeless body on the ground.

Within that moment
they all grew up
For what they’d seen had been too much.

It seemed that place they loved to play,
was turned upside down and took away.

That thing they loved to climb and see,
for someone else...
A hanging tree.

It’s branches they had climbed so high
had been someone else’s place to die.

Not only one life was took that day
5 young boys had lost their way.
They go through life but all they see
was that body at that tree.

Suicide is not the way
please talk to us and here us say.
We’re here for you, why can’t you see?
Please do not climb up on that tree ?

A son , a brother , a man , a dad.
You’ve left us all and we are sad.
Up in heaven you will be
looking down and you will see,
the heartache and the misery.

With you is where I want to be..
so I’m the next one up that tree....
