The Truth of Life
The world is but an open stage,
And each of us, the players page
We put our dress and makeup on,
And shun the truth of what we don
Afraid of what the masses think,
We scurry round to stay in sync
And if I'm not ahead of you,
I'll make a life that isn't true
The mirror is a liar, too
It shows our features so untrue
And so we change the way we look,
Until the morn's our open book
I wish the world was just more fake!
For I would not appear a flake
I'd simply post to all my friends,
To tell them where my weirdness ends
I had a dream, a dream of two,
The moment I set eyes on you,
But soon I found our lives a lie,
As he was more in vogue than I.

Beautifully flowing and utterly sad. Great write WD x
Wow! What a write on culture in our society... I feel as if ever since Covid, the world has really been turned on its head. I bloody enjoyed this stanza,
I think the word scurry really shapes the image. Like humans are just insects... I feel with the ever-increasing interest in technology and social media this is really becoming the case... Brilliantly clever poetry here. What a debut! Welcome to the Cosmos!
