The Underthinker

Dedicated to the co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen 1953-2018

I remember the first time that I heard of him, this Microsoft magnate;
I hadn’t kept up with the tech world, I was a little out of date!
But the article so impressed me, that I never forgot his name;
Paul Allen, “The Underthinker”, a billionaire of great fame!

The part that so enamored me, was that he’d sold all his valuable shares;
This co-founder of a mega-corp, decided to live life without a care!
For his true passion was his music, he played guitar deftly with his hands;
Jimi Hendrix was his inspiration, so he formed a great rock band!
.
He named them, “The Underthinkers”, all guys who liked to chill;
To just “easy ride” their instruments, in life, was their greatest thrill!
He also loved his football, and basketball playing too;
So he bought the Seahawks and the Trailblazers, just to name a few!

But yesterday I heard his name again, in a tearful saddened way;
This man who was an icon, had passed on last Monday!
Only sixty-five years young now, far too early for an obituary date;
Paul Allen, you will be remembered, as a man who was truly great!
