Poem -

The Underthinker

The Underthinker

Dedicated to the co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen 1953-2018

I remember the first time that I heard of him, this Microsoft magnate;
I hadn’t kept up with the tech world, I was a little out of date!
But the article so impressed me, that I never forgot his name;
Paul Allen, “The Underthinker”, a billionaire of great fame!
.
The part that so enamored me, was that he’d sold all his valuable shares;
This co-founder of a mega-corp, decided to live life without a care!
For his true passion was his music, he played guitar deftly with his hands;
Jimi Hendrix was his inspiration, so he formed a great rock band!
.
He named them, “The Underthinkers”, all guys who liked to chill;
To just “easy ride” their instruments, in life, was their greatest thrill!
He also loved his football, and basketball playing too;
So he bought the Seahawks and the Trailblazers, just to name a few!
.
But yesterday I heard his name again, in a tearful saddened way;
This man who was an icon, had passed on last Monday!
Only sixty-five years young now, far too early for an obituary date;
Paul Allen, you will be remembered, as a man who was truly great!
.
.
                             Rich beyond compare
                        He shared it with the World
                             This friend of all men

Dear bad rhymes,

Wow!  Your comment hit my heart, "he did it his way".
One of my favorite songs in the World is "My Way", by Frank Sinatra.
By the way, having been in karaoke competitions several years ago, I always blew the roof off when I sang this song.
Thank you for your lovely comment.

Peace and Love,

Hi dear Larry....It is so honoring that you bring up the lives of those who are inspiring and worthy to mention for their contributions in life....and I admire Paul Allen for being so intelligent and yet having his priorities straight despite his incredible wealth...enjoying life for what touched him that was not of monetary value.  Thank you for sharing. I was touched. xo ;)

My Dear Cherie,

From the moment I read that first article about him, I was an ardent fan, to think that even with the potential of making countless billions more, he traded it all in, to follow his dreams and greatest passion.  I have often questioned myself, trying to figure out if monetary greed, would have tempted me.  He was a truly great man, who left our world far too early.
As usual, thank you for always understanding the crux of my heart.

All my love,
Larry xxx

Hi Larry, I wasn't aware that this man existed. Great educational poem. Shame about his untimely death, he sounded like a cool character who liked to follow his passions.

Take care - Syd xox

My Dear Friend Syd,

He sure was a cool cat.  He followed his dreams, even after becoming a billionaire.
He was a great inspiration to all.
So sad, he left us so early.
Thank you for your great comment.

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
