Poem -

the unknown

I stand at the precipice of adulthood,
an unformed sculpture of hopes and fears.
The world sprawls before me—
a canvas vast, unbounded, yet somehow constricting,
like the tightness in my chest when I dare to dream.

In the mirror, a girl of eighteen stares back,
her eyes a tumultuous sea of grey—
storm clouds threatening to break,
spilling over with the rain of uncertainty.

My heart, a hesitant drumbeat,
echoes the silent questions that linger
in the hollows of my ribcage.
What will become of me?
A whisper in the void, a footnote in the margins?

Life unfurls in patterns predictable,
a metronome's monotonous lull.
Yet, within its cadence lies chaos—
a sudden crescendo that shatters the silence,
a reminder that existence is not a rehearsal.

Words, my solace and my nemesis,
flow from my lips like honey—
sweet, smooth, and suffusing warmth.
But beware, for they can morph into daggers,
sharp and merciless, a double-edged sword.

I am resilience, the phoenix rising from ash,
a tapestry woven from threads of resolve.
Yet, I am vulnerability,
a porcelain doll, one careless touch from shattering.

So here I stand, at the threshold of tomorrow,
a vessel of potential, a chrysalis of change.
With every breath, I sculpt my fate,
molding the clay of the days yet to come.

The future is a riddle wrapped in a mystery,
an enigma cloaked in the unknown.
I am the cartographer of my destiny,
charting a course through uncharted waters,
navigating the stars of my own making.
