The Weeping Willow

In a park I loved when I was young, there stood a mighty tree;
I’d visit it almost every day, and it always spoke to me!
Its words came from the willows long, blowing gently in the wind;
They’d sung the songs of happiness, two centuries, since their begin!
Sometimes I’d climb up on its limbs, so sturdy and so strong;
I’d sit there to pass some time away, and listen to its songs!
I always felt so safe up there, for I knew the willow well;
And if I shared with it my secrets true, I knew it would not tell!
The years passed by and I grew up, it was time to say goodbye;
I went out to the willow tree, and we both began to cry!
I promised to come back some day, to hear it sing again;
With one last kiss we parted ways, I vowed my love not end!
Ten years would pass; I was gone away, before I could return;
When I went to see the willow tree, my heart began to churn!
Where it once stood proud, was a parking lot, they’d made my great tree die;
And then I felt a gentle breeze, and I heard the willow cry!
