The Weight

It amazes me to know that I weigh so very much
That your warm impatient hands are all but keeping me adrift
Holding my head above the surface
Water trying to keep me from you
And what you represent
You caught me on the winds of all I am
In a sheet
But like a boulder in mid-plummet, I cannot break
From the downward haul
Your arms were strong while they had reason
But reason flies away in the winds of all I am
And I can feel your hands grow calm
And loose
I smile despite the sorrow
Discharged from the wound that is this
Impending departure
To see you more whole than I ever have
More you
More true
More more
I see a light to render your dusk a rumour
You have held me, I can't let you go, I won't
But there is no way to stop my momentum now
Time has bound us well, for the time we well were bound
Together
And time himself will leave at last
But you will never be alone like me again
That sickly solitude that smothered you despite your friends beside you
We both knew that it grew from me like
A strangler fig
Like fog on the water
Perhaps from this here water
That will take me from you
And all you represent.

Thank you so so so much, Cherie. :) This is such an awesome and insightful comment, and I am really happy that it had such a profound effect on you. You too are a most talented writer, which makes words like these mean that much more, coming from you. Thank you again, my friend. :)
