THE WINKING MOON

I saw the moon tonight winking at me
It looked so happy as a moon can be
High above against the dark clear sky
Can't escape it however hard I try

I wonder what occupies a moon's mind
I am sure the thoughts are good and kind
Is the moon upset as the next day comes ?
Does it consider the stars as their chums ?

Carry on winking my dearest moon
Love seeing you in December and June
Don't ever leave me and go away so soon
My one true friend the winking moon
