The Woman Who Chose the Garden Over the Firmaments
Written for and Inspired by Rory McGinlay A true poet.

Ā
If a heart doesn't get
what a heart wants
a heart can be hollowĀ
in this, my very own
garden of rosesĀ
I myself will say to you, my readerĀ
Ā
there is nothing like a violent storm
to bring on the passion
between two souls
two souls locked in a fateĀ
in a garden so beautifulĀ
that, the great raven would never chance to call
a garden so magnificentĀ
filled with magnolia and rosesĀ
filled with perfumes
of the very love that revels through our veinsĀ
Ā
but the perfume doesn't always smell so good
does it?Ā
alas
sometimes the airĀ
is filled with black thickened skiesĀ
with hate and with envy
but my words always my wordsĀ
of honorĀ
Ā
if the firmamentsĀ could strikeĀ
your love onto meĀ
I would lay down to die happily
in this our garden
knowing even thoughĀ
it could never be
the heavens sent you to me
Ā
because I am...
Ā
the woman who chose the garden over the firmaments.

Oh... wow again. Such a stunning write Shirley. You are indeed a garden of lightness and love my friend and the whole tone of this is filled with hope. It's a wonderfulĀ thing to see you.and Rory writing of each other under the same theme. But I'm.wondering... you two have a secret compo? lol. If so you both win in my book š x
I am a married lady you know, actually I adore his work, much as I do yours, yesterday I published a poem called Death in Verona, and this whole poetic experience on both our parts was birthed from there, he said some incredibly inspiring things and left me with an incredible museful moment this is in fact his title, and we decided to both use it to come up with a poem. Of course Romeo and Juliet is all about Love, so here you see it all in black and white, he is a hero in any case, one of the most kindest gentlemen, and by the way he agreed two hours ago that it was not to be rushed this Poem project, but he still posted before me. lol I haven't had this much fun in ages, please do take the title to come up with your own poem dear friend. The more the merrier š¹ and thank you for your beautiful worlds ā¤ļø ps back to work next week after a very long break for school holidays obviously the children will be so eager to see me lol š so just making the most of these wonderful moments ā¤ļø
I know you are married love. It is lovely to see a collaboration.on here.Ā
We used to have loads of competitions on.here back in the day... Matthew, BM, me and others. We would choose a ridiculous subject like socks and people would write silly poems. We had such fun... that's why I asked about the compo lol.Ā
Happy writings to you X
That's my Orange and Cows poems. Orange was a colour assignment, Cows, a sound one. I miss that. Makes you dig deep, don't it?
Right you are, M. It is about finding something, and finding out, if that Something is good, it will be ephemeral. As for the ending, as is at the beginning, well that's eternal seperation. In The garden forever with a broken heart. But it's the price we pay.
Ignore this spaceĀ
LOL š¤£Ā
The Garden is down pat, you understand Love is the very thing that makes a garden, there can be no garden without it. Then there is the mention of Death, also, you'll agree, necessary. And even Honour, Woman after my own heart.Ā
Rory, without your kind reviews and your understanding of my work there would never be anything to inspire too, I couldn't help but drop my raven in here, although I didn't allow him to have his moment, I truly cannot thank you enough for this, it's been a long time since I have had the pleasure to interact like this. Thank you dear Poet, your modesty and your soul is what makes you a great poetic colleague. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. š¹ ā¤ļø š¹Ā
Now for the True me, who always blows it. I made note of this but failed to mention, Mother is also Raven. I don't pretend to understand these things.
So for me my raven is my grief, in my poetry he is a good raven he comes to tell me when death has been and sits with me, it's a poetry thing after my brother died he was 25Ā after my mother died of a broken heart for my brother at age of 64 and after my dear friend died at 34, yeh we all die but these were my tragedies. You see you didn't blow it at all, Rory your curiosity is a tool that you always use to your best and I so admire that, I've told you before anything just ask, I would never be offended and I am an open book as it is all in my poetry. š¹Ā
Last thing, The title, brilliant! I never saw it coming. But well should have. Lol
Why of course lol thank you once again for teaching me a new word and giving me this inspiration it's been a very beautiful experience. I hope we can do it again out of nothing, was magical. š¹Ā
A very good poem. Better every time I read. Oh yes, I revisitĀ
