The Wyvren

A wyvren escaped...
After a thousand years
of solitude 
in a crystal cave.

Swooped up in the air.
With a wandering eye.
A rumbling throat.
And dirty grin to bare.

Bigger than a movie can imagine.
2000 thousand tones of terror
And a half a tonne of muscle 
for every foot of wing span.

Within seconds it reached 
Max altitude for flight

From the top of the atmosphere,
It boulderd down like a rocket.
Until food was close enough to sight.

An entire cattle farm 
is munched up in one night.

Before any one knows, it’s on its way.

So big and agile 
It traveled from Africa 
to China in only 
Two and a half hours.

It was a long flight...
And it worked up an appetite
