the you I know

the you I know

love is such a silly thing
it isn’t good until it is great
but then you leave me there reeling
i wish I could turn off my feelings
you let me leave, pushed me away
when all I wanted was to stay
i thought there was nothing I could do
when I saw the way he looked at you
your eyes never twinkled like that for me
i wish my heart would let me be free
we’re still two kids in that hot tub ages ago
i wish that was the you I still know
