These Rusted Leaves...

The trees extricate
themselves of rusted beauty.
For autumn leaves are
falling in late September.
In blithe summertime,
they were the chosen ones. Now,
they're scattered across
streets like broken syllables
in Time's lexicon.
They are condemned forever.
