These eyes

These eyes

That playful glint
under furrowed brow,
a mind still sharp
but wondering,
in a life ever evolving,
these eyes have seen it all.
Slender now
of feeble flesh,
yet life's passion
burns within,
in a spirit never broken,
these eyes have seen it all.
Stories told
to those that care,
of war, peace and love,
a humble mentor,
silent but strong,
these eyes have seen it all.
Vulnerable now
but strength aplenty,
for a shallow heart,
the mind must nourish,
in impertinence shadow remember,
these eyes have seen it all.
