Poem -

A war leaves scars

A war leaves scars

You fought a battle.
It left scars on your skin,
showing people where you’ve been,
fighting demons all alone.
If you’ve won, you don’t know.

It is war wthin yourself.
And with time
they can see it in your eyes
that under all disguise,
you’re left hurt and bleeding lies.

Because you know
they’d never get,
what you’ve seen and what it’s like
to keep fighting the good fight
until hope is out of sight.

But despite of all the hurt,
one day pride will have been earned,
for your strength and all your pain
that you went through, left you vain.

So remember who you are.
What you can fight will get you far.
Don’t let wounds get you down.
Live in the here, live in your now.
