Thirty Love

Thirty Love

I'm winning this game, it's good when you know,
ruthless, determined, competitive, butterflies below;
a bit like life, you need a break to see you through,
don't 'crow' if you get one, be generous and true.

I'm sorry for my adversary, not just a game,
when you lose, you're looking for someone to blame;
we play for hours, see the fear in your eyes,
what happens when I win so much and love dies.

The game becomes real, all that cut and thrust,
reality that ensures there is no one you can trust;
you didn't abide by the rules and took the outcome,
whether you win or lose, still feel rather a bit numb.

We don't really need games to prove I'm better than you,
you've already lost, the moment you stepped into view.
