This Child

There is a child trapped in a cage
Who's filled with hate, fury and rage
Pitch black and dark, nothing to see
Alone and confused, wishing to flee
Yet this cage always keeps him inside
No hopes of ever seeing the outside
Feelings build up as they reap and sow
Trapped in emotions with nowhere to go
With so much anger it makes him cry
As he sits alone wondering why
Why this cage would not set him free
To voice the anguish he wishes to plea
He hears the sounds from the world outside
Though no one hears when he screamed or cried
This child that's trapped of whom I speak
Is the inner self I have buried so deep
Troubled and lost please resurface this boy
Release my chains that I may see joy
Take away all the feelings of sorrow
And guide me into a better tomorrow
