Steel + Red Spiders
for Bernie, best I could remember x

The town is red. The people are red.
In this town.
Not like the Indians, there are no
arrows or horses or teepees
But we are red. In my town.
Red with the dust that falls
Like baby spiders newly birthed
Bringing life
The towers are black and steel
and molten. Eternal flame.
Beacon of home.
Its people beneath. Spider red.
Or used to be or need to be or
want to be

Amazing imagery dear Marion. 🌹
Thanks Shirley, sorry for late reply x
Marion a well woven poem to really connect in the here of today and for the ilk of generations past.
When by the 1960's steel industries in Wales employed more than coal.
Possibly you write about Kidwelly, Llanelli, Ynyscedwyn, Risca, Port Talbot, Ebbw Vale, Merthyr to name a few for perhaps inspiration.
A sign o' the past, present and future times poem and beautifully done.
Even under the smoke and dirt of industry there lies prose.
Hugs.
