When we learned about History we weren't told about the different parties...

Who stood for what...

Just the names and dates which we had to memorize...

I remember asking if I could go...

Children aren't allowed...

There was never a discussion about the voting process...

The reasons why they voted for who they did...

My parents were very Democrat only...

They told me when I grow up you always vote Democrat...

I asked what if I choose not to?

I thought my Mother was going to have a heart attack right then and there...

My Dad got very concerned and he yelled at me in a way I had never been yelled at by him before...

Then it was the infamous because, we told you so and you do as you're told...

When I went and voted in my first Election...

I could hear my parents and I almost did it...

I remember standing there and saying...

My parents don't always give the best advice possible...

I didn't do what I was told...

After the Election the conversation came up and I said...

I voted Independent...

My Dad said you said you voted Democrat...

I guess maybe, the right Democrat...

18-57 when the age I will be at the time of the next Election...

Their hate has taken me away to the side of the Underdog...
