"Three Dragonflies"

"Three Dragonflies"

Every time I see dragonflies
Gliding through the air
I take a moment to use my eyes
To admirably stare
One day I witnessed a group of three
This I will always remember
Side-by-side they were perched in a tree
While the sun set like a dying ember
That memory seemed like faded grey
Even though this day is done
I’m hoping to see the light of day
To live another one
I imagined myself between the two
It felt as if I were their only son
I experienced life from a beautiful view
Because they taught me to fly rather than run
Before they took flight, to soar in the sky
I knew one day they would have returned
To fly into my arms, as they happily cry
To see so much that I have learned
