THREE PEAS IN A POD

Three peas in a pod were a fine looking bean 
A shiny outer layer and a beautiful green 
These peas though dreaded that fateful day 
When from the stalk they would be taken away 

On the stalk there were peas by the score
In pods of one,twos and sometimes four
The three peas in a pod loved the outdoor life
When cruelly they were taken by a farmer's knife

So gone are the three peas unique to this stalk
Finished up no doubt on a plate with a fork 
I have something to ask though if you please 
Say a prayer to these peas may they rest in peas
