Thunder

It's not the lightning that you see,
Thunder is the thing that startles me
With it's loud, vibrating roar,
Shakes and shivers me to the core.
What did cavemen think, I wonder
When first they heard that clap of the thunder
Or where lightning struck to smolder tundra,
Perhaps 'twas then, they roasted meat
Changed the things they made to eat.
BOOM! it goes again, shakes me from my reverie
Sends my eyeballs heavenly.
Waiting for the pelting rain
That somehow soothes my worried brain.
Well, that's my story about the thunder,
I'm off to dream now, In my bed,
down-under.
