Thunderstorm
When I was a girl, longer now than it seems.
I had many thoughts, many made up like dreams.
Many of which I would perform.
When there was a thunder storm.
Ā Ā Ā I believed every time that there was rain,
Ā Ā They were tears from God, and tried in vain,
Ā Ā To bring him happiness long-term
Ā Ā Iād sing to him to calm the storm.
When I was younger I sat for an hour
Singing to the sun during a shower.
Using the songs as a sort of platform
In hopes the weather I would transform.
Ā Ā When there was lightning in the sky
Ā Ā What was happening in my mindās eye
Ā Ā Was a bunch of angels, I was misinformedā¦?
Ā Ā Were up above, bowling the storm.
After the rain Iād go outside,
Then Iād search the gutter tide
For friends washed by the storm.
The sidewalks filled with worms.
Ā Ā I believed every time that there was rain,
Ā Ā They were tears from God, and tried in vain,
Ā Ā To bring him happiness long-term
Ā Ā Iād sing to him to calm the storm.
So next year Iāll leave, to college Iāll go.
But when a storm comes, in my heart Iāll know.
While thunder and lightning and rain is the norm
My mind recalls heaven during the storms.
