Tick-Tock

Moments phase bygones in time.
Archaic renaissance rhyme,
A heart ticking grandfather clock,
Strokes midnight knell a shock.

Echoes resound, harshly chime,
Reminds all, we're out of time.
Shan’t we be questioning life?
Or just be ignorant of strife.

Dogged notions winkle time
 Reminiscence lost in a climb.
Gears and cogs indict by fault,
Guilty confession ever assault.

Time and again chances to reflect,
Forgiveness seems easier retrospect.
Chiming with an enfeebled din,
Welcome Reaper’s skeletal grin.

Bated outside, poised to knock
Turnkey lost, which coils clock.
 Vigilant to lulling heart-beats,
Gradually tick-tock retreats.

Clockworks slowly wind down,
 Damn apprehension, so profound.
Sounds of silence, etch tombstone
Taciturn assure we all die alone.
