TIME

Time did not stand still when
You died
I will not lie
I will be truthful
Time
Paused
Briefly
It bid you fond farewell
Sang a hymn
Shed a tear or two
Over your empty shell
It acknowledged your departure
Acknowledged the bereft
Raised its cap respectfully
To the loved ones left
Behind
Then forgot
All about
You
Oh, it allowed a photograph here
A recollection there
Memories lingered
And time said a prayer
Then forgot
All about
You
People married
Women birthed
People passed
Returned to the good earth
As you did
And time forgot
All about
Them
And
All about
You
For time is brutal and callous
And life is futile and shallow
And all things live to die
And all the breathing things
Shall cry
For time does not feel
And time does not heal
It is all lies
All lies
And though time forgot
Be reassured
That
I
Do
Not
forget
You
I never will.

Nicely done , rock
Thankyou Rock ?
Marion this is a poem and a requiem. It sings a ballad of grief and I recognize the anger of the seeming futility if it all when everything living must one day die.
It seems that a creator would not make us just to have us die. But even though all things in time are removed and forget I love the way you write that you will still remember .....
Aw thankyou Violet, sometimes I get unreasonably angry...silly, like being angry about the weather, still, the feelings linger sometimes ?
