The Time to End Our Time

The Time to End Our Time

In shops we see the slogans “when it’s gone its gone”

And this is true of human life; a fact that seems so wrong

Of course ,the only certain things  are birth and death we’re taught

And maybe we’ll be proud of all the battles that we fought

Maybe all this time you had been lacking in self worth

Maybe it’s a feeling you’d developed since your birth

It could be that you wanted this and were waiting for the day

But it’s likely it was too soon: did it have to end this way?

When you recollect all those experiences you had

You realise of your actions some were good and some were bad

You think “Maybe I deserved this” you think “maybe I did not”

And after all our lives are through we’re all reduced to rot

It seems as though we’re all just being punished for our crimes

And this is why we’re faced with the time to end our times

Perhaps it was just natural perhaps something is to blame

But when we leave this world it always seems a shame

This is a thought-provoking poem. I like the flow of it; that it isn't defined in a rigid structure but rather as a stream of consciousness, and your use of dialogue draws the reader in really well. Great job. :)
