Would You Leave For Mars?

In a few years’ time if mars became habitable, would you go?

I would. What If Humans were transported there in groups?

The journey would last 6 years, 6 years could seem a lifetime

But I wouldn’t want to be put to sleep for more than one

Maybe the last one just before the destination was reached

In a few years’ time, would the journey become claustrophobic?

It could, maybe you could be sent to sleep for the entire 6 years?

Being launched from the planet in metal containers wouldn’t suit everyone’s needs

Then again, some people wouldn’t want to leave under even the finest conditions

There are always safety concerns where shuttles filled with strangers are concerned

In a few years’ time, could you meet your soulmate on the shuttle they send you in?

It’d add to the experience, would it be a shame to miss it?

To miss the chance to start a life with someone on another planet

We’d all be different people by the time we finally got there

But maybe this would be a change for the better, only time would tell

In a few years’ time would you be scared?

No one’s left the planet forever before have they?

There could be a reason, the crimson surface might not seem homely for a long time

Any creatures that live there would be so unfamiliar in appearance

Maybe the breathing apparatus they provide would fail you at a crucial point

In a few years’ time, would you be used to the noises mars provide?

What do you think the planet would even sound like?

Maybe a shrill whistle would forever fill the area

Maybe no sound at all

Silence could make the planet feel less welcome

In a few years’ time, would earth be too good to leave?

Maybe not, we’ve all wanted to visit space at some time right?

Becoming an adventurer is something worth saying you’ve done

And it would be satisfying to say without having to exaggerate

To say you were implicated in something that altered humanity, and even another planet

In a few years’ time, would the typical earthbound lifestyle have worn thin?

I would have thought so. For some of us that’s already beginning, have you noticed?
