Poem -
to experience
Oh restless soul of mine!
At once
Climb the mountain long enough,
my spirit longs for the sea.
Swim the ocean brave enough,
I envy the climb.
Live amongst the crowd,
I dream of solitude.
Lonely in the oasis,
I dream of a companion.
Struggle in pain and sweat,
I fantasize my pillow.
Lazy in my comfort,
Prone in my bed,
I envision an epic adventure.
Like a mule tied to the mill,
I chase an ironic carrot.
It dangles in front of me.
Never satisfied,
Yet I am.
Because it is my quest
to experience all that I must.
Somehow, I know
That someday
I will know
When to restÂ
And dream not.
