I watched you from a distance 
I watched you as if you were untouchable 
As if you could never come down from the cloud you were on
Back then you weren't mine to have 
Until the day I saw you fall from that cloud 
And then the distance was closed, open to me
I discovered the real you
The one nobody dared to find out and it touched my soul
In the moment I was yours and I would never be the same
To have you was like reaching the end of the darkest tunnel
To have you was to feel love the kind where you can't bear to be without them 
To have you was the beginning of a different me
I wasn't just a girlfriend to you but much more beyond labels
I was the one person you didn't have to fear judgement from
Or wonder if you'll still love him when everything goes wrong
But to have you was also learning restraint, patience when I had none
To have you was having to deal with all the pain that came with you 
To have you was staying with you even though there was a million reasons not to
And I wouldn't  trade that for anything because to have you was love.
