To My Beautiful Mummy, Rose--Happy Mother’s Day

My precious, Blessed Mother, I send these words your way;

To show my purest love to you, on this sacred Mother’s Day!

You left me fifty years ago, so young, at fifty years of age;

But my soul has not forgotten you, now up on Heaven’s Stage!

I was the third of the three girls, you birthed and gave your love;

The most tender caring Mother, sent down from God above!

You were given a very tough challenge, my sister Judy handicapped;

But you never treated her differently, you filled her every gap!

You worked in yours and Daddy’s business, a dry cleaning Emporium;

But you ingested dangerous chemicals, that people were not aware of then!

Eventually they took their sad toll, they attacked your pancreas;

You fought so hard but could not win, and you left the four of us!

I think about you quite often, I keep your photo very near;

I look at all your beauty, and often shed sad tears!

I was twenty when you left me, my precious Mother Rose;

Someday I’m going to join you, then in Heaven, we’ll repose!  

Linda and I wrote this poem together, in honor of her beautiful Mother Rose, who sadly succumbed to Pancreatic Cancer, on May 27, 1967, at the age of fifty.
