~ Death To My Left ~
{a special delivery}

Death,
Hovers there
Just over my left shoulder
Waiting,
Stoically,
Patiently painting
The shadowy expanse of my fear
And through its diligence
I find my frustration
A most constant, cryptic, calling,
For Death
Does not waver,
Or even deepen
It simply haunts my soul with its
Inevitability,
And I am made agonizingly aware
Of its presence
For,
(again & again)
Wherever I go,
Whatever I think,
It lingers
There,
Off to my left
(my weak side)
It waits,
To deliver its
Parcel,
And then
(most cruelly)
It makes me,
Sign for it....

Hi Tony a Brave write...
Of the inevitable end..
But on the hand the start of a new after-life.
At a certain age nothing occupy our thoughts more than our own mortality.!
Hay Tony great poem
I love your poemsÂ
it has the feel of
Shakespeare to it
and death is partÂ
of life and no shouldÂ
worry about it it willÂ
comeÂ
"It makes me sign for it..."
what a fantastic feeling of dread these lines convey to me ....the icing on a cake of doom and torturous anticipation...great write Tony ?

Hi Tony, this is poetry to my heart, death has always been close to me, I always feel it and im beginning to accept it as a way of life, a gift for me and those who see it too.
I absolutely love this poem and it's just another reminder for me that I'm not alone on this earth, that there are humans who experience what I experience, thanks.
