To Touch The Sky

To Touch The Sky

For Iman on her sixty second birthday, in loving memory of David Bowie
.
If somehow I could reach up, and touch the azure sky;
I know you’d come down to join me, from the Heavens very high!
I would tell you how I’ve missed you, and my heart has been so blue;
I’m sure you’d say the same thing, “I’ve missed you so much too”!

.
We’d hold each other closely, and our lips would gently touch;
As I’d get to kiss an Angel, one I love so very much!
My tears would then start flowing, for soon we’d say goodbye;
You’d say “Dry your eyes my Beloved, there is no need to cry”!

.
“Because someday we’ll be together, for all Eternity”;
“In the Heaven’s Holy Firmament, is where we both will be”!
“So live your life on Earth now, for our souls are ever one”;
“Then the day you come to meet me, Forever, will have begun”!

.
.
                               We will never part
                          Our souls are forever one
                               Our love eternal

.
Title inspired by the group “2002”, from their 1997 album “Chrysalis”

My Dear Brother Tony,

When I used to look at photographs of Iman and David Bowie together,  I could almost feel the love emanating from their souls.  I remember the day we all lost him, a young man only 69 years old, so revered by the world, I cried.  If you ever want to see him in a movie that I think he should have received an Oscar nomination for, check out "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence", where he plays a Brit in a Japanese POW camp during WWII.  When I read in the wee hours of this morning, that this was Iman's birthday, I felt that I had to pen these words, trying to alleviate the terrible pain she will be experiencing today without him.  Thank you for your beautiful words, which honor them too.

Peace, Love and Rockets,
Larry xxx

My Dear Sweet Rose,

You could tell with one look at their photos, or when we would see them on television, how truly in love they were, two soulmates I am sure.  As I told Tony, one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen was "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence", where David Bowie plays a prisoner at a Japanese POW camp.  Known mainly for his singing, he was a great actor too.  The pain of his early loss I am sure was devastating to Iman and their daughter.  Thank you for your lovely words.

Love you,
Daddio xxx
