To What End?

Went looking for an end,
but unclear as to what end.
Endings are supposed to
be liberating, aren't they?
And liberations supposed to
be empowering, but
empowered to what end?
I walked on this quest,
everything else moves too fast
to allow a true looking for.
Looking- not watching
nor seeing nor observing,
genuinely looking, but
looking to what end?
A goalless quest some may say
is an adventure, some a journey,
and some a futile waste of time.
Time is a human construct,
argued as tangible but yet abstract
and relative. Time has its uses but
uses to what end?
The quest at once is rejuvenating
and weary; the discoveries fascinate
while the irrelevance of most, tires.
Relevance they say is circumstantial,
often subjective, swinging between
the ambiguous and the logical, but
relevant to what end?
The quest plateaus and threatens
a drop-off anytime, down a chasmĀ
in the fissure torn apart by theĀ
continuum of time and space. We
have this desperateĀ need to try and findĀ
interconnectedness, the continuums, but
desperation to what end?
The quest is in an exhilarating plummet
viscerally; but the cerebral is a numbing
voiding freefall through a promising empty.
An empty to which their just might be
the proverbial 'end' and I just might findĀ
the very end I set out in quest for, but
an end, once again, to what end?
