The Toad, The Boy, And Me......

I saw a lonely man, sitting on a log on the side of the road, toying with a toad
A little boy sat at his feet, scribbling with a stick in the dirt, hard at work
I began to wonder if they were friends, or family perhaps
So I began to walk, toward the oddish pair, when the boy tossed back his hair
He began to hum and sing an oddish song....

Well i'll be home in time, he cried
Yes i'll bring home the tide
So all ye lovely fisherman
Can keep your lady love at sea
And when the first word at Poseidon's behest
Comes home, we'll set ye free......

I came up to the lonely man, extended my friendly hand
When the boy began pickin' and throwin' , all his dirt on me
He hit me with his scribble stick, took the toad and ran away
And when I asked the man, he said
Don't worry, he's always been that way

I came upon a lonely man, in strange, compelling, circumstance
And as I shook his hand I knew, that he was of the sea
Like he had simply washed ashore somehow, and landed on a log
Where a wee boy and his best friend, a toad, came to get along
The man stood up and walked away, humming a familiar song
And crying out for his long lost friends
The toad, the boy, and me........
