Today is World Alzheimers day -This is a previously publish poem of mine dedicated to my Mum and everyone else who like her is on this lonely journey.

āDonāt forget meā my mum said, at school on my first day.
She smiled her smile and blew a kiss and slowly walked away.
āDonāt forget meā my mum saidĀ whilst helping me to pack,
Ā but knew that when Uni was done Iād soon be coming back.
āDonāt forget meā My mum saidĀ through tears of joy and pride,
as I walked down the aisle that day a blushing, happy bride.
Throughout the years sheād say those words and I would always say..
āForget you mum? Thereās not a chance youād ever go away from
Ā all my thoughts of happy days andĀ being close to you,
and all the special things youād say and all the things youād do,
your image is imprinted and indelible you see..
I only wish that you had such a memory now of meā¦..
Your eyes cloud over and you frown when I come in the room,
I see you look at me and blankly stare back Ā in your gloom,
I hold Ā your hand and tell you that no matter what you do,
My darling, lovely angel mum- Iāll never forget you.

Thanks so much Lorna..It is a terrible disease Ā but believe it or not although we had to learn to love a 'different' Mum we DO -and our time together is always uplifting...doesn't always make a lot of sense but we have learned to put ourselves in her world and Ā doing that we can share some quite crazy laughs. Thank you for your kind words hun..they mean a lot!

Hello Lodigiana...
Great awareness write!
It's a very sad effect for everyone...
Though they're finding ways to slow down the progression every step hopefully will lead to the cure...
Too late for many loved ones, unfortunately...
My Grandmother had it and she was deaf also so I couldn't imagine her world she would wake up in everyday from the beginning to the end...
Blessings in your Journey and thank you for sharing this beautiful write and tribute...
Hugs...
