The Together
Upon the heaving bosom of the ocean
Eager, playful, impatient
With her arms spread wide
The wave is rushing
To meet up
With her shore.
She knows him well,
In her welcome, the shore
Won’t do anything special.
He won’t be restless or impatient,
Neither would she find him
With his arms spread open.
She also knows,
It is upon that shore
She would splash apart
Into mist and spray.
However, she also knows very well,
That the stoic, resolute, timeless,
Almost immortal shore
Would  always be in wait for her;
Share all her sorrows, her joys and
Be with her through her every mood
Without any complaint or impatience.
Every time they met, the shore
Would gift her some of his own body.
The wave would say-
“Why every time?
Look upon your body,
Pockmarked with voids.”
The shore would reply with a loving smile-
“Oh these are not voids;
Am only making more space.
Every time you come to me,
In them, part of you too
Stays back with me.
So the more I give myself to you,
The more you stay back with me.
It might not be much,
But with that much of us together,
My voided body feels a fulfilled whole.
“And when finally one day,
I’ll give away the last of myself to you,
You’ll become me and I’ll become you.
To fuse into one another, can there be
A together any higher than this?”
