A TORTURED SOUL

For what you are to read
You must in mind prepare
For this it was a crime so sad
Go forth and say a prayer
A tortured soul; the subject
Of a truly heinous crime
Made to suffer untold hurt
That built up over time
The culprits; it was shocking
To ever think they could
But his Mother was the villain
Who destroyed his childhood
Stepfather ; her assistant
Evil partner in her deeds
Inflicting brutal acts so grave
Ignoring all his needs
The sand was flowing fast
From the hourglass of time
Those caring hands held out
Let him slip into his shrine
A cell of human torture
A place where he would rot
A life that was so precious
Ebbed away into a dot
Starved until it hurt
His little belly it did swell
Tiny bones left jutting out
His mind a living hell
Poor boy; oh how he suffered
The excuses they were rife
Explanations of an illness
Gave the system so much strife
So do we curse the hands that tortured him?
Tore his whole world up in bits
Left him with no hope for life
Those brutal;Â heartless gits
There is no doubt they are to blame
This child he suffered so
Locked within a prison
No place for him to go
But the system it was lacking
It defended family ties
Even when his family
All they did was spit out lies
A system that is present
For those helpless broken few
Those beaten; sad and lonely
What is a kid to do?
The innocence of a child
Is one to cherish not abuse
Their life is in an adult’s hands
Not one that they can choose
So when you tuck your children up
Every night and watch them sleep
A thought for all those tortured souls
A watchful eye we all should keep ..
