Total Blackout

In the darkness she sits THERE.

The place that she thinks IS

the safest. You may think its NOTHING.

The nothing that is IN,

gives her the sanctuary for WHICH

she craves. Don’t turn on THE

lights for daybreak brings the BIRDS.

She says the dark is best, I beg to DIFFER.

Trying to get close pushes her away MORE.

She turns and backs away FROM

all possibilities. She says no to all MAN.

For her running away is easier THAN

getting hurt. She will not repeat THE

pain again, not in the same WAY

her mother did, there is no IN.

Thousands of thoughts in her mind WHICH

she disagrees with. Even though THEY

try to convince her they CAN.

Tear down her walls she just will BUILD

them up again higher, wider, stronger AND

darker. She is so young and beautiful YET

so jaded. She pleads to LEAVE

her be right up until THE

end. Right before she fades into the LANDSCAPE.

She loves the darkness, the quiet AS

if the silence was the only IT

for her as if it WAS

her only friend. I leave her just like BEFORE.
