Tourist or Pilgrim?

Tourist or pilgrim?
It is hard to distinguish
between all manner
of categories these days
I'm not pining for
old ways; just pointing
out a few facts. Once there
were Benedictions.
Now many merely
bless the bones of the carcass.
Las Vegas, Lourdes
or Disneyland leave a trail
of images that
we voraciously consume.
Post- modern culture
leaves me cold. There is no Light
there and there's no key.
Cannibalise styles until
there is nothing left,
for hucksters to beg, steal or
borrow. Give me
a self- contained artist who
respects the rich past,
yet can shape the blue future,
Give me one like that,
any day of the week over
these fashion victims,
Who just flatter to deceive.
