Towers

~TOWERS

One September Morning
not so long ago
the sun was shining
and the air was warm.

Life was good
with much to get done.
Plans were made for
the coming day.

Worries, cares
joys, and tears
came along as they always do
but life was good one September morn.

No one thought as they rushed about
that this would be the day
life would end
in a most horrible way.

Into the towers workers climbed
with thoughts of love, divorce, and dying.
On this day
so routine.

From the sky the terror came
in planes driven by those so very sane.
God is good.
God is great.

At the window one man stood
watching death rush to him.
A silver streak
a massive blur and the end of the world.

Flames and screams.
Three thousand cell phones.
"Everything is alright."
"I'll see you tonight."

One last call to say goodbye
The end is near.
Orange flames.
Black smoke.

In the windows they stand
waving frantically.
Then they fly
downward into eternity.

Flying on such a beautiful day.
The air is warm,
the sun is bright,
on this September morn.
