Trains

Trains

Life is a train that you jump on

Like a freight train in the night

going somewhere

you don’t care to know

people jump on and off

warm an hour or two

and move on

sometimes they come back

finding you again

on the road to another nowhere

join your dreams

live in a fantasy for a minute

They are not lying to you

You can do that

so easily for yourself

The scar tissue builds up

Hearts can only be cut so deep

Before they don’t beat anymore

You were a sweet memory

In my place where I bury my box

of souvenirs all wrapped up

In a blue bow to take out

In dark nights when the rain falls

I cannot take you back

No matter how I might wish too

For as the train pulls into

another unknown destination

as always

I am all alone.
