Travels With My Dad

Travels With My Dad

Soon after my first marriage, I started working with my Dad;
The most successful traveling salesman, the woman’s apparel business had!
He was a legend in his own time, fame and fortune came his way;
When asked “Who is the greatest”, “Hymie Ran”, they’d always say!
.
I handled little specialty shops, my Father, the major stores;
Those were the days before the malls, downtown the people poured!
His rapport with major buyers, was totally unique;
He would help them write large orders, their sales would always peak!
.
Sometimes we would travel together, at first class hotels we would be;
He’d show his line in our business suite, and give four hours off to me!
I’d shoot pool or see a movie, then come back late afternoon;
We’d eat dinner at a fancy restaurant, so great my head would swoon!
.
Eventually, I found my own niche, a dealer in fine art;
Six years later, so prematurely, my Father had to part!
I look back on those times with him, as the tears run down my face;
Wishing we were still traveling together, and him I could embrace!
.
.
Oh my dear Papa
You made my life so joyous
Our love will ne’er die

Hi dear Larry...Your dad sounds like he was very savvy in business and instilled that motivation in you.  Great tribute.  I am sure you miss him.  I see some resemblance there...definitely.  Thanks for sharing. xo Love n Hugs

My Dear Cherie,

You are so right about the resemblance.  People were always telling my Father that he looked just like me, ha ha.  We had great times together on those road trips, for he made them such a pleasure for me.
Thanks for the sweet words.

Love,
Larry xxx
