TREASURED MEMORIES

Wonderful memories of him are so clear

They are precious to her still.

In her soul they will stay with her here.

Those memories of him are so very much treasured

They will forever reside deep in her heart.

In her soul he is still living yet.

But she`ll always love him and miss him so much.

His tenderness and love she will never forget

Although his lovely smile has faded from her sight.

And his beautiful face she can no longer hold or touch.

She`ll always have her precious memories to keep her warm through her lonely nights.

It has been five slow painful years

Since that cold May morning dawned.

He couragiously smiled and held her in his arms

So brave through to the end of his fight.

He looked at her and whispered " I love you Mum "

Then as he closed his eyes she saw a gentle light.

They were holding hands as he slipped quietly away

Then the angels came and gently carried him as he had to leave.

Now there is a darkness full of grief.

A darkness that is fathomless deep.

It is a fight to survive for her now

She just wants to hold him tight.

She has to fight this every single day.

His place at the table will still be set for him each Christmas Day.

But he won`t be there as another painful one slowly slips away.

Since he had to leave and on his journey go

In her pain filled heart it feels like it happened just yesterday.

Although she smiles and talks to people that she meets

She never shows her tears.

Nobody knows or feels her pain that is so hard for her to bear.

But she has to live through it as time endlessly drags slowly for her here.

In life they loved each other absolutely

Even though he`s gone from her sight she still feels the same.

And though she cannot see him with her now

She knows he`s holding her tenderly when she calls his name.

In her mind her thoughts of him will never cease.

She knows they bring them close to each other every day.

It helps her to know that they are not so far apart

As no distance can devide.

For every day in her heart they still walk side by side.
