Tree of a Dream

Strolling through a sleeping reverie one night
I sowed the seed of a dream in its earth.
Till many nights since, from many nights hence
Visions have rained in droplets of moments.
Had to buy an umbrella of thoughts for my walks,
One gets drenched too fast in that rain.
And some moments never fully dry.
Then one fine dawn the morning arrived clear.
Without the cumbersome umbrella,
I could see more and venturing farther than usual
Chanced upon a tree I had never seen before.
Wordy leaves and phrased shades, tempted a pause.
A moment’s repose under it and back home again.
Unrealized, sleep stole upon the eyes
Crooning quiet lullabies of a verdant dream-
That dream-seed I’d sown,
The night before the rains,
I lie lulled into a quiet sleep,
Under its now generous canopy,
Upon the very same earth,
Passing once more through
The sleepy reverie of a night.
