Tree World

Tree World

The world we entered as little boys,
Lost in a fantasy; all things our toys!
Adults said; don't play with that mop!
Not playing, it's my gun; I'm a cop!

Then leave to find peace in the trees,
No one looks up or behind the leaves.
Free! we could be anything we want!
Swing like monkeys, or birds to taunt!

Build a fort with our collected wood,
Now we were pirates; or Robin Hood!
None could find us in our fortress tree,
The birds gave up; learned to let us be.

How I miss swinging in my happy tree!
Fantasy world; allowed us to be free!

Oh Jim what a delightful poem expressing the innocence and freedom that should be childhood. It's so sad how a lot of us lose our childish fantasy spirit. It really was a dreamworld where everything was possible and everything could be anything. Love this! Excellent poem. All stars β˜€πŸ™‚β€

Jim, just the tonic and a real shot in the poetry arm as well.
Wonderful to read your poem that sweeps me away on a journey and to also recall childhood memories too!
Love the rhyming construction and your last two line payoff too.
Oh to be free, innocent and carefree.πŸ™‚
Five deserved stars and thank you for writing and sharing Jim.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
