Trembling Little Fingers

Trembling Little Fingers

There was once
a toy
which was held
in her trembling hands.

It bore all
the weight of
her stony fears.

From time to time
it had a shower
with her crystal tears.

Once it was even dropped
in a fountain with fish!
Poor toy
it wasn't able to swim.

Promptly saved by
its owner's father
the toy was
secured again,
little fingers entwining it.

Now
that kid has gone
but her toy still
lies in a drawer.

Grooves and stains on it.
Small pieces missing.
Colour faded.
Dust in the incisions.

It is cold
no trembling little fingers.
