Tried My Best

Tried My Best

Tried my best to play guitar

Rock and roll – be a star;

Didn’t get very far

But I tried my best.

Tried my best to write a tune

Make ’em dance – make ’em swoon;

Missed the stars, missed the moon,

But I tried my best.

Mother said when I was young

“Always try your best my son!”

That’s something I’ve always done,

Always tried my best

Tried my best to write a song,

Sometimes short – sometimes long,

All of which turned out wrong

But I tried my best.

Mother said when I was young

“Always try your best my son!”

That’s something I’ve always done,

Always tried my best.

Not a man of many words,

Playing only basic chords,

My songs didn’t win awards

But I tried my best!
