Poem -

Trouble in the Home

You may look at us,

A heroic team of five,

Led by honor and pride,

But glory,

Is not the shielded thing.

The home life,

Seemingly boundless,

In reward and contentment,

Is lacking.

We have been trained,

We have experienced,

We have grown in mind and body,

Beyond all of these things,

We cannot obey,

The simple task,

At home.

We, the children,

With resume’s

Like Chinese scrolls,

Have become selfish.

We have grown,

Insular,

Your work is yours

My work is mine,

Free time?

ME time.

Why?

Does it have to come…

To tears?

When we cannot

Make ends meet

Before an agreed deadline?

And they still pay for

Four trips!

The taxes will not lighten,

For these heroes,

As college takes form

Of a megaboss.

In which,

We, the children,

Aid!

But, if we all just consider

Life

As a game,

I guess my own

Villainous weight,

On the trust-fall of a weakened home,

Cut loose!

Could lighten the load.

Would that be, too,

selfish?
