Trumpeter

On the canal beneath the leaves and the trees
Gliding and floating with less haste and little speed
Making your way but at your ease.
There's no hurry - your majesty.
Kings and Queens of the Grand Canal
Grace, elegance, regalityΒ all of which are your speciality
In charge, in love, in water you soarΒ
A glorious spectacle afloat or ashore
Paying no heed to the traffic as it roars.
Trumpeters; all in whiteΒ
Your neck outstretched warns of your imminent flight
Your crowning feature.
Postures are ever changing curved then round.
Head first, you're upside down
Dipping your bill, 'tis a mate you have found.
In courtship, you're head-to-head
Hissing, soft snores and sharp grunts
Only but sounds to protect
The cygnet emerges with fresh eyes
It's short necked and thickly downed.
On its mother's back- it will not drown.
A brand new worldΒ
Life it has found

Finally...cross rhymes!! I was beginning to think I was the only one left.
Excellent!!
Thanks, Jason. I appreciate that!Β I'm new to this but I love it! It's aΒ learning curve for sure
You're right. I've been here a few days and I find that the people are great, really welcoming and a lot of them are PROLIFIC!! Don't get sucked in to the fast pace; go at your own pace: and do what YOU came here to do.
I've found that if you just do what it is you do...they'll respond.
J.
Thanks again, Jason
