TSUNAMI

TSUNAMI

I onlyΒ  just missed the tsunami on Phuket beach,
it was five metres above my head, out of reach,
strange fish swam by in a frantic race to survive,
you wondered if it was possible to escape alive.

Perhaps it would wash away all my indiscretions,
and coming the other way with no reservations,
nothing held back, old lovers swam by grinning,
as though I'd been escorted to my old beginning.

Some faces were not so hospitable, regrettable,
but I was gone, in a new life, at the end of it all,
would I have changed all these watery memories?
I thought not - we have no power to change mysteries.

We are swept along with most things above our head,
nothing you can do about them, so it's all been said.
