Turn the page...

Could this be my swan song, time now for goodbye..
my heart spilled on paper, end the chapters now.
Time has dragged on too long -no resolution found,
I’ve no more words, and even fewer opinions.
Full stop, all change, no need for regret,
my conscience is clear, my best works all done…
No need to comment , completion now sought .
Get past the preface, onto the start,
dig into the body and study the text
The story unfolded, a tale of two halves
the good and the bad, the truth and the lies.
Imagine the scene, compose dialogue…
attribute feelings and life to a name.
Read and re read …it’s the same every day
But no new words come and the characters flat.
A quick break for coffee, a biscuit, some fruit,
still no inspiration and panic sets in…
What if I never find my words again?..
and all of the words just turn out the same…
A deadline is up, all pages just blank,
frustration my partner, a mind full of clouds
I need inspiration to try to unlock
The fear that confronts me …that’s my writers block…

Hi Cherie I console myself that it happens to the best of us... a close friend of mine, a well established author, always gives me a signed copy of his latest book. The last time this happened we laughed because he momentarily had Writers block trying to think of what to write as s dedication!! He was all out of words!!thankfully he and I soon recovered- so pleased that it resonated with you too Cherie!

so glad you recovered from your writers block, what a relevant subject to post on a poetry site, so well said... personally, I don't believe that 'writers block' is a bad thing, I see it as a time to take a break refresh and wait for inspiration to come back around, I've written only one book though, so I am probably completely wrong, lol....in all seriousness, you have a wonderful relationship with expression, I enjoyed this poem, cheers
Hello Christopher, how right you are about Writers block..! Not always a bad thing as sometimes (talking personally here) there can be a case of a written diatribe developing that gradually loses its impetus and more importantly any real meaning to the work and is becoming lost or diluted..thats when writers block is a lifesaver..time to regroup the words, thoughts and imagination into some sort if order. Thanks for your comments fellow poet, which are always a real 'spirit lifter' !!
